Windfall: Create New Warehouse Locations

Any inventory that comes into the warehouse needs to be assigned to a location. So at least one warehouse location must be set up before inventory can be brought into the warehouse.

Creating New Warehouse Locations

Begin by clicking the ‘Locations’ tab on the left side of the screen. A new window will appear. There are several options to consider, and each one of them has been detailed below.

Create Multiple Locations:

Allows you to create a range of locations.

In the example above, 100 Floor locations will be created. The tags will generate with the letter representing the location type first, followed by the numbered range. This would create locations for F001 through F100.

Add to Location:

Movable locations, such as vaults and pallets, need a base location to sit in, like a floor location. Vaults and pallets will use this as well as any custom movable locations. This can represent the row of the vaults.

In the example above, any vaults that are being created would be placed into the existing F01 Floor location.

Pre and Post Tags:

Allows you to add a prefix or suffix to help further break down your locations. Larger warehouses may use this option to designate which portion of the warehouse this location is.

Name:

Location name/number. This needs to be unique to the location.

Reserved:

Inventory in a reserved location cannot be added to a work order.

Offsite:

This option allows you to mark a location that is not at the warehouse.

Active:

If this is checked, inventory can be added. It can be unchecked when a location is not in use. If the option is not checked, the location will not be available to add inventory.

Sq. Ft./Cube Ft.:

Square/Cube Footage can be captured for reporting purposes, but is not required.

Creating Rack locations

Selecting ‘RACK’ for the 'Location Type' will open up options for row, bay, and level.
