Windfall: Create Custom Location Types

Creating custom location types will allow you to further customize your warehouse. It gives you increased flexibility for creating and labeling unique and miscellaneous locations.

Create Custom Location Types

Navigate to the ‘Locations’ tab on the left side of the screen. Once on the locations page, click the ‘Location Types’ tab. Then click the ‘New’ button at the top of the screen.

Define the Location Type

On this screen, you will need to define the ‘Type’ and ‘Prefix'.

Type

This is the name of your new location type. It is a free-type field.

Prefix

This is the letter that will display as the first character of the location tag when you create a location using the new type.

EXAMPLE: Creating a floor location called 01 will produce a location tag of F01. 'F' is the prefix.

Fixed Location box

Checking this box will make locations of this type static and immovable, just like a floor location. If it is unchecked, it will be a movable location similar to a pallet or vault.

Contains Other Locations

Checking this box will allow inventory and movable locations (pallets and vaults) to be placed in locations of the created type. Unchecking it will allow inventory, but not other locations, to be assigned to it.

When finished, hit the ‘Save’ button at the top of the box.

Creating a Location

Once the location type has been saved, Windfall will bring you back to the ‘Location Types’ tab. You should see your new location type in the list. When creating a new location, the newly created custom location type should be available to select from the drop down box.
